Lislagan Primary School, Ballymoney

PTA

Lislagan PTA was established in 2020 and we are a registered charity.  Our purpose is to work in partnership with the school to raise funds for school resources that will benefit all children who attend our school.

Lislagan PTA wouldn’t be as successful as it is without the support of our parents/guardians, extended families of pupils, the local community and local businesses.  We are extremely thankful for your continued support.

Our committee currently has 9 members.

Our Chairperson is Lesley Ann Beckett.  As Chairperson Lesley Ann is responsible for leading the committee, facilitating meetings, ensuring decisions are implemented in a timely manner, liaising with the school principal about fundraising, ensuring the PTA is registered with the regulatory bodies e.g. the Charity Commission and submits reports where necessary.

Our Vice Chairperson is Rhonda Coulter.  As Vice Chairperson Rhonda works closely with Lesley Ann as Chairperson.  She helps with running meetings, organising events and encourages parents to volunteer to help out at events.  She also deputises in the absence of the Chairperson.

Our Secretary is Nicola Johnston.  As Secretary Nicola is responsible for assisting the Chairperson with planning meetings, communicates with the school and committee members circulating the agenda before meetings, takes minutes, prepares publicity for public events e.g. posters, flyers, tickets, keeps records.

Our Treasurer role is currently vacant.  We hope this role will be filled at our next AGM in September.  As Treasurer you are responsible for controlling PTA funds in line with the committee’s decisions and also charity law, provide a financial update/report to the rest of the committee at meetings, manage day to day finances, keep detailed and accurate records of all financial activity, arrange a float for events, ensure money is kept safe before and during events, bank money from events promptly in line with guidance from Parentkind, complete the Charity Commission annual return and have accounts audited on yearly basis by an independent financial auditor.

Committee members attend meetings, suggest ideas for events, help organise events, provide help at each event and encourage others to volunteer to help out at events.

If you would like to find out more about the PTA, roles within the PTA and are interested in joining the committee or have any fundraising suggestions please contact us at lislaganpspta@gmail.com.  Please note this mail box isn’t checked on a daily basis but we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We have organised a number of successful fundraising events over the last four years that have been well supported by parents and the local community.  Examples are a table quiz, Tea with Santa, fireside quiz, smarties tubes coin collection and a treasure hunt.  We look forward to planning many future events.

As a result of this fundraising we have been able to provide financial input into the following for the school

  • Subsidise the panto trip for all pupils
  • Subsidise P7 leavers hoodies
  • Subsidise P7 end of year fun day
  • Purchase Enhanced Curriculum available for all pupils
