Meet the Committee

All children in Years 3-7 were invited to run for the new school Eco-Committee. After writing up their manifestos and presenting these to their classes, the children took a vote! These new Eco-Committee members will now seek to help take the lead in helping Lislagan play its part in the eco-conscious battle!

Our aim

Having carried out an environmental review of the school, the Eco-Committee decided that the two main topics Lislagan should focus on for this year are:

  • Litter
  • Healthy Living

What you can do to help

Lislagan’s Eco-School journey will require everyone to play their part, so what can you do to help?

Firstly, think about what you are doing with your rubbish. Are you considering what you can recycle? Could you reuse or make do instead of throwing things out and buying them new? Would there be an area of your local community that you could litter pick on an evening?

Next, consider your lifestyle. Every morning at Lislagan, we complete our Primary Movement routines each morning so that we can start our day off by helping our brains and bodies to work as well as they can. The staff and children also realise that diet is important too. Every child is encouraged to bring in a reusable bottle of water which they can drink throughout the day. We think about the snacks and lunches that we eat and try to choose foods which are tasty, healthy and nutritious.

By thinking about these things we can all work together to make our school, communities and bodies happy and healthy!
