Hello and welcome to ‘The Oak Room’ section of our website. My name is Mrs Cheshire and I am the teacher in our KS2 Social and Communication class, alongside Nicole and Amanda our classroom assistants. Together, we bring experience, passion and enthusiasm to support the children to grow and learn.

Our newly refurbished room opened in September 2024 and offers a well-resourced, nurturing room designed to meet a range of needs. We have a sensory room attached to our classroom and a sensory circuit located in the corridor. These provide the children with calm, safe areas in which to regulate their emotions.

The small group specialist provision enables children with sensory and communication difficulties to access the curriculum at a pace which is suited to their needs. We focus on developing communication skills, social interaction and regulating our emotions.

We integrate with the mainstream classes when appropriate which helps the children develop friendships with their peer group and feel part of the whole school community.
